rates

i noticed last night rob had a ping of 7 which says to me his rates aint set right.
so i little guid is in order

all commands are from consoleand x=number

rate xxxxx
controls network packets so your available bandwidth doesnt become saturated, mine is set to 10000, the lower your connection speed the lower you want to set this rate

cl_cmdrate xx

restricts the number of packets SENT to the server by your pc. try 40 and work your way higher until you fnd the right number, mine is set to 66 because my upload speed of my connection is 256kbps

cl_updaterate xx

how many game worls updates your recieve from the server, should be set to the tick rate of the server, your server tick is 66 so it's best setting it to 66. setting it higher wont help because the server wont send more than 66 packets per second. if you want more packets rent a 100 tick server. mine is set to 100 for when i play in 100 tick servers and i cant be arse droping it everytime i play in a 66 or 33 tick server

All done, checked it and its now coming through about 35.
